Shark Bait, Hoo Ha Ha (The Pixar Thread)

So, with the impending release of Toy Story 3 (Only 37 hours!), I thought I'd start a thread about my favorite studio in existance.

    What's your favorite Pixar movie?
    Favorite characters?
Anything you wish Pixar would do?

Really, whatever you want to say about Pixar is fair game.

Anyway, I am really really excited that Toy Story 3 is coming out. I've been rewatching a whole bunch of Pixar movies the past week, my facebook profile picture and status have been based on a different movie each day, and I'm rewatching Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 on Blu-Ray before going to the 12:01am showing.

To put it simply: I'm psyched!
"Boy, I've never seen him so down. Or ever before."

I loved Monsters Inc. The whole concept behind it, the characters, the animations, all of it. Loved it. I thought Finding Nemo was pretty damn cute too.

I still have to see "Up", it's in my LoveFilm (netflix) queue.

Ooh, I'm a tough nut to crack with the tears. Now I'm curious. I'll definitely let you know if you're right about that.

We watched it, and the first 10 minutes really make you question how the Hell this is a kids movie. Its terribly depressing!

Fair enough. It made me cry.

Toy Story never really did much for me TBH. Monsters Inc though - absolutely loved it.

    Robbie:

By the way, I LOVE the title of this thread. Now I can't stop thinking of that scene. Mount Wannahockaloogie!

When did you experience Toy Story? Young Age? Teenage? Adult?
I grew up with it, so it holds a special place in my heart. I had the Buzz action figures and everything

    Ooh, tough questions.

    Favourite is a tricky one...
Up is fantastically good! I had a great uncle who was exactly like Carl, he looked like him and had the same personality.
    Wall.E. was brilliant
    Monsters Inc. was also brilliant!

It's easier to pick my least favourite:
    Ratatouille
Don't you know what I mean?
The sick things that I've seen

In my 20s when I saw toy story. I think the problem was that I saw it a few years after it came out, and technology had moved on a little bit, so I didn't really warm to the characters. I preferred TS2 - but I thought the graphics were a whole step higher again in Monsters.

Ohh I'm going to the 12:05 AM showing of Toy Story 3. I can't wait! Allyson is coming along, I hope you're using the free ($8.50 coupon) tickets included with the Blu-Rays! I'm very excited and I can't wait. I keep hearing the last 15-20 minutes will wreck you, looks like Pixar likes to make people cry a lot recently.

My Favorite is hard to say. I love all of the films, I thought Cars was possibly their weakest (then again I don't like cars & racing etc), but my favs are The Incredibles, Wall-E, and Ratatouille. Up of course, is a big fav of mine, and might be the highest on the list so far. The music went perfectly with the film and I often find myself humming the theme.

Wall-e is a fantastic character. Dug is up there too. Each of their characters are very unique and miles away from ordinary.

I wish Pixar would continue with a follow-up to The Incredibles. I can easily see how this could expand into something great. Also they need to release Finding Nemo and the Incredibles on Blu-Ray already. Everything else is already released!

Toy Story and TS2 were great. A Bug's Life had some great parts. Monsters, Inc was amazing. Finding Nemo was good but unfortunately quite a few of the funniest bits were in the trailer. The Incredibles was great fun. Cars bored me to tears within about 15min - and I've never watched the rest of it. Ratatouille - not seen it.

Wall•E was marvellous. Up had me welling up a bit - and was a great film (if a bit WTF later on)..

I think Wall•E and Monsters, Inc and Up all rate right up there.

    Looking forward to TS3

Monsters Inc. is amazing. My roommate watched it for the first time last week and, even though I had gone on and on about how amazing it was, he still was awe-struck with how good it was.
    Kitty!

Up is genius. I bought it on Blu-Ray right away and have honestly watched it more than 20 times since. The first 10 minutes are very sad, but exceedingly well done. Pixar somehow makes you cry over the things that happen to characters you were literally just introduced to. My parents went for their anniversary and my dad cried.

I just watched Finding Nemo the other day. It just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. My other favorite quote from it is when Dory sees the first tiny jellyfish: "I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy."
"Boy, I've never seen him so down. Or ever before."

I'm not keen on the idea of Monsters Inc 2, I have to admit – I thought the original one ended perfectly.

    Hmm.

I had the same feeling, but who knows. I know for Pixar for there to be a sequel they have to have a pretty damn good story. I hope they keep it that way, if they do I'm sure we'll be a-ok.

I'm a little bit confused by the choice of that to make a sequel. But Pixar hasn't steered me wrong so far, so I have faith that it will be great.

They are all good. I haven't seen Up just yet, but have heard good things. I can't believe some of you didn't like Cars. I thought it was great, but I'm Southern, so I can easily relate with the characters. Ellen's portrayal of Dory combined with excellent writing made Finding Nemo hilarious. If you haven't seen it yet, you simply must check out the Pixar short called Presto. It's about a magician and his rabbit. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

I can enjoy Cars, but it isn't one of my favorites. The movie has some good moments, but it just isn't one of my top picks.

I love Pixar's shorts. For the birds, Presto, and Burn-e are a few of my favorites. Partly Cloudy was another wonderful short (paired with Up when released). Their shorts always seem to be equally as good as the movies. They're short, sweet, and make you laugh!

I love the shorts too. Even the older ones are awesome, like Luxo Jr., Tin Toy, and The Adventures of Andre and Wally B.

I hear that the short before Toy Story 3, Day and Night, is one of the best they've done.
