Thread: Article: Not just any rant

Pretty much with them all but 9. Being rushed.

Guess what? The movie starts whether you're there or not. The restaurant reservation was at 8, not 8:30. Oh, and that deadline at work? That happens with or without you too. So maybe work just needs to happen without you. You don't like to be rushed? Well, I don't like being late for things or making other people wait. Know why? Because it's f***ing rude and wastes other people's time. So if being rushed annoys you, try being on time for a change and guess what? You won't be rushed.

All well and good, guys - I agree with both of you with regard to needing to be somewhere.

What gets to me is when I'm doing something leisurely, when I'm the only one actually doing it, but I'm accompanied by others - like shopping, sightseeing, etc. No place to be, no schedule to meet. Shelley will stand with me patiently and wait for me to take care of my business, but it just feels like I'm being loomed over.

That is still your problem. If that is the case, state that they can move on and you will catch up.

I see both sides of this one. Tomorrow struggles with what we call "nice guy" syndrome. He wants those around him to be happy and sometimes it's hard to be selfish, even when it's okay to do so. This often occurs when you feel that tension that comes from believing you might be inconveniencing someone. Ultimately, Lee's right though in stating that often we do this to ourselves.

It is. In both cases this is something we do to ourselves. There's nothing wrong with freeing somebody else to go about their business while you do yours. That's the only advantage to cell phones. I can call and find someone when I am done doing what I want to do.

Conversely, I can't get the fuck away from people when I'm doing something I want to do.
I sometimes do web searches for websites I have absolutely no interest in, just to screw up Googles data profile of me.

I totally agree with number 6. That's why all the BS with my timecard at work bothers me so much. Complaining about my job performance is one thing, but accusing me of falsifying my time card is an assault on my character by calling me a cheat and a liar.
